Mariners 4, Locos 7
Lima Locos 7, Grand Lake Mariners 4 (July 14, 2026)
Lima went into Grand Lake and turned a tight, back-and-forth game into a late road win, scoring four times in the third inning and then reclaiming the lead for good with runs in the sixth and a decisive two-run swing in the seventh. The Locos finished with 8 hits and took advantage of 2 Grand Lake errors, while the Mariners actually out-hit Lima 9-8 but couldn't convert enough of those baserunners.
How the scoring unfolded
Grand Lake struck first in the second on a bunt single by Noah Drake that brought home Huston Dunn for a 1-0 lead. Lima answered immediately and forcefully in the third, sending eight men to the plate. Avery Wilson lined a two-run single to right-center, Cameron Greene followed with an RBI double, and Grant McGuire added an RBI single to make it 4-1.
The Mariners responded in the bottom of the third when Brandt Kendall homered to right-center, then Dunn doubled in another run to cut it to 4-3. In the fifth, CJ Filipek tied it with an RBI single, making it 4-4 and setting up a tense final stretch.
Lima moved back in front in the sixth. With the bases loaded, Tyler VanSumeren worked a walk to force in a run for a 5-4 lead. In the seventh, Shane Miranda delivered the knockout blow, ripping a two-run double to left-center. Both runs were unearned, the difference created by Grand Lake's defensive miscues, and Lima carried a 7-4 advantage the rest of the way.
Key performers
For Lima, Miranda led the middle of the order, going 2-for-3 with a double, 2 RBI, and a walk. Greene went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and scored twice. Wilson's two-run single in the third was the early turning point, and VanSumeren reached base twice and drove in a run via the bases-loaded walk.
Grand Lake got a strong night at the top and middle of the order: Kendall went 2-for-4 with the solo home run, Dunn went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Filipek went 3-for-4 with an RBI. The Mariners' biggest missed opportunity came from the bottom half of the lineup: Landon Tiesing was left on base four times, and catcher Holden Murcer struck out four times.

Lima starter Wyatt Dion went 4.0 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 6. Konner Quinn earned the win with 3.0 innings of relief, giving up 1 run on 2 hits with 4 strikeouts, and he closed the door after Lima's seventh-inning cushion.
